How do I care for my tattoo during the first 24 to 48 hours?

Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching your tattoo. Gently clean the area with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free liquid soap, then pat dry with a clean paper towel. Keep the area clean, let it breathe, and avoid rubbing or covering it with tight clothing.

What should I do if my artist applied a second-skin bandage?

If your artist applied a protective second-skin film, leave it on for the duration specified during your appointment. To remove it, gently peel it back under warm running water. Afterward, wash the tattoo immediately with mild, fragrance-free soap and pat dry.

Which moisturizers and soaps do you recommend?

We recommend using a mild, unscented antibacterial or sensitive skin soap. Once your tattoo begins to dry out and feel tight, apply a very thin layer of fragrance-free Lubiderm lotion. Avoid thick petroleum ointments, scented creams, or harsh chemicals that can clog pores.

What activities and habits must I avoid while healing?

Avoid submerging your tattoo in water—no swimming pools, hot tubs, baths, or lakes until it is fully healed. Keep the tattoo out of direct sunlight and tanning beds. Never scratch, rub, or pick at scabs or flaking skin, as this can pull ink out of the skin.

What are normal healing symptoms versus signs of concern?

Mild redness, slight tenderness, light flaking, and itching are completely normal during recovery. However, if you notice spreading redness, worsening warmth, severe swelling, pus, increasing pain, or develop a fever, please consult a healthcare professional immediately.
